Art Along the Lake is a ten-day, self-led art tour along Minnesota’s north shore of Lake Superior during peak fall colors. From Tofte to Grand Portage to the Gunflint Trail, this event offers the unique opportunity to meet local artists in their home studios and gain insights into their creative processes. Whether you’re revisiting a favorite gallery or meeting an artist for the first time, there’s always something new to discover and beautiful scenery to enjoy along the way! Many locations showcase guest artists’ work, and all venues are open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“Lake Superior is the backdrop and the boreal forest is the setting for Art Along the Lake. This art tour offers a rare glimpse behind the scenes. We welcome guests to our home/studio for the 10 days of tour.”

Dan & Lee Ross, Studio Hosts

"Art Along the Lake is one of my favorite annual events! I love wending my way from studio to studio on the tour, connecting with local artists and visiting the landscape, communities, and personal spaces that influence their work."

Dorothy B., Visitor

"Unlike the hustle and bustle of most art sales, I cherish this event for its relaxed pace. I am able to connect with visitors on a deeper level because I am not only sharing my artwork with them, but also my home. They get to see firsthand the landscape that inspires my work."

Nan Onkka, Studio Host

"What I love most about Art Along the Lake is visiting artists in their own spaces. There's something magical about seeing how their surroundings inspire their work - and how their creativity transforms those spaces right back."

Steph V., Visitor

"Art Along the Lake is one of the fall events I look forward to every year. I love spending the day driving along the North Shore, popping into different studios and galleries, and chatting with the artists about their work. We're incredibly fortunate to have so many talented artists in the community and to have an event like Art Along the Lake that brings them together to showcase their creativity!"
